Description
The judgment appealed from allowed the claim of the claimant-respondent Sylvia O'Dell for personal services against the estate of Charles Nale, deceased. Because of a demand for a jury trial the disputed claim was transferred from the probate court to the circuit court for trial. 1 In 1963, Charles Nale, a man in his seventies, was living alone in his home at Hillsboro, Wisconsin. He inserted an ad in a Mauston newspaper as follows: Wanted, a middle-aged lady to do light housekeeping for elderly man. If interested write to Charles Nale, Hillsboro, Wisconsin. On February 8, 1963, Sylvia O'Dell responded to the ad. She was living in Necedah, Wisconsin. She hired her neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Hardiman, to drive her to Hillsboro. After talking to Mr. Nale, she left her home in Necedah, moved into his home, kept his house and assisted him and remained there until his death on January 31, 1970.
